Lemons for clear skin

Hello everyone!

The health benefits of lemons are countless, but did you know that they can be particularly beneficial to oily and/or acne-prone skin?

What makes the lemon one of the best natural skincare ingredients?

The lemon…

  • Is rich in vitamin C ( one of the best skin vitamins)
  • Is a natural astringent
  • Is a natural skin whitener
  • Stimulates blood circulation

Lemon juice can be used both topically and internally to achieve soft, smooth and clear skin.

Topical use:

Lemons can help heal acne and acne scars.  Citric acid contained in lemon juice exfoliates the skin, which is essential to accelerate the healing of acne. It also acts as an astringent and dries the pimples.  Also, being a natural whitener, lemon juice reduces the redness of pimples naturally.
You can dilute the lemon juice with water and use it as a skin toner.  I suggest adding pure lemon juice to a wet cotton ball.  If you have sensitive skin and think that diluted lemon juice would still irritate your skin, mix a few undiluted drops with Aloe vera.
Lemons are also a great way to get rid of blackheads.  Rub lemon juice over any blackhead you might have, before going to bed, and then wash it off the next morning.  Repeat nightly if necessary.

Internal use:
Drink a glass of warm water with lemon juice and honey first thing in the morning (i.e. on an empty stomach), every day.  This will help to clean your body and clear the skin.

Tips:
Lemons can irritate the skin so avoid using them on broken or sensitive skin, when undiluted.
Do not apply lemon juice to your skin during the day, before sun exposure, as it makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight and can leave brown marks on the skin.

I just love the cleansing benefits of lemons.  How about you?

  3. Excellent blog post. Really helpful. I've a couple of beauty tips that seem to be effective for me personally, it is something everyone is able to carry out. Ensure that you drink an adequate amount of water, this helps to clear out toxins from your body and skin. Getting enough sleep at night is another good foundation for healthy skin care for the reason that while sleeping the skin will renew all of the dead skin cells. I additionally make sure I do not go in the sun too much and this seems to work well in my opinion.
