Look your best with Shapellx

July 01, 2022 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

Today I'm back with another fashion-related post. Anyone who loves clothes and fashion knows that, the secret to a perfect fit is wearing the perfect undergarments. I'm sure many of you have noticed that shapewear is significantly rising in popularity. Indeed for many years, shapewear had a reputation for being uncomfortable and even somewhat painful. Nowadays, shapewear has evolved into fairly pleasant garments that can be worn all day. For today's post, I'm collaborating with Shapellx to tell you everything you need to know about shapewear and show you some items I'm sure you'll love.

Shapellx's shapewear will help you feel confident, sexy, and gorgeous no matter your dress size or how much you weigh. There's a good reason why most celebrities wear shapewear; they want to feel and look their best, and we all deserve that!

Many women, myself included, believe that certain clothes don't look good on us. However, these insecurities seem to fade away when wearing the right shapewear. Wearing shapewear highlighting our best features can be a huge confidence boost! Sometimes all we need is a good waist trainer for women. Waist trainers can also improve posture and give you an instant hourglass figure.

Shapellx is a size-inclusive brand which offers body shapers for women of all sizes. If you are looking for a plus size waist trainer or body shaper, look no further. On their website, you will find undergarments with various compression levels, that will sculpt and contour your body.

For example, the item below is the perfect waist trainer to boost your workouts while still feeling supported.

I love Shapellx's full body shapers. Some of their full-body shapers look like traditional shapewear, while others look like sexy lingerie. Below are two of my favourite bodysuits. I think they are simply gorgeous!

The first is a black lace bodysuit that smooths and lifts the stomach, bum, waist, and back.

It's available in sizes S to 3XL

The second bodysuit is the perfect undergarment to wear under strapless and backless outfits. Like the other bodysuit, this one is available in sizes S to 3XL. It comes in two colours; black and beige.

DIY: Essential oil body wash

June 28, 2022 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

Today I'm back with another simple DIY beauty recipe. A simple and creative way to bring essential oils into your everyday life is to add them to daily household products. Adding a few drops to a fragrance-free shower gel or a bubble bath is an easy way to do so. Nonetheless, making your personalised foaming body wash is even better.

Body wash is an essential part of our bathing routines. But many of us do not pay attention to the ingredients that many commercial body washes contain. You may be putting your long-term health at risk by using products which contain dangerous chemicals. If you want to know more about this topic, I suggest you watch HBO’s Not So Pretty docuseries.

If you’re looking for a body wash that will cleanse your skin and leave you feeling refreshed, you may want to try this essential oil body wash recipe.

suddy heart-shaped bath sponge

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of Dr Bronner’s Castile Soap (baby unscented)
  • 4 teaspoons vegetable glycerin
  • 20 to 30 drops of essential oil/s
  • Foaming bottle - I use an empty foaming face wash bottle. You can also find foaming soap dispensers on Amazon

Castile soap is just like regular soap but more eco-friendly. Rather than being made from lard or other animal fats, it is made from vegetable oils, i.e.vegan soap. Castile soap is also a good choice for people who want to avoid harsh chemicals.

Vegetable glycerin is made from plant oils and is known for its hydrating properties. It can help keep your skin soft and healthy. The glycerin is what will make this homemade body wash sudsy! Your body wash will still work without it, but it won’t foam up as much.

Essential oils

Not only do they smell great, but they also have therapeutic properties that can benefit your skin and calm your mind.

Method:

  1. Pick the essential oil/s you want to use.
  2. In your foaming bottle, add castile soap, vegetable glycerin, and essential oils.
  3. Shake well.

During the hot summer months, peppermint oil is one of my favourite essential oils to use in body wash because it has a cooling and refreshing effect.

Here are some other essential oils I love:

  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Frankincense
  • Geranium
  • Ylang Ylang
  • Lemongrass
  • Neroli
  • Jasmine
  • Rosemary
  • Lemon
  • Vanilla
  • Sandalwood

Any of these essential oils can be added to this DIY body wash recipe or any unscented body wash if you prefer.

What is your favourite body wash scent? Lavander and vanilla is one of my all-time favourite scents.

Talk to you soon.

What is the best season to get pierced?

June 22, 2022 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

Summer has finally arrived, and this is the perfect time to show off a new ear or body piercing, especially since probably your clothes won’t be hiding it. Lucky, every time I post a piercing-related article on this blog, you seem to like it, which is great; because I love writing about this topic. In this post, I want to talk to you about when to get pierced. Is there a better season to get a piercing? Keep reading to find out!

When is the perfect time to get pierced? What are the seasonal pros and cons to consider before going through with a piercing? Whether you choose to get your piercing during the hot summer months or the cooler winter once depends primarily on your lifestyle.

After your piercing, you can expect a 25-60% chance of slight swelling within the first 3 days. Circulation will increase, and blood will rush to the area. Areas with better blood circulation, such as earlobes, lips, nose and nipples, may experience up to 60% chance of swelling.

During the warmer seasons, the steady blood flow to the pierced area increases, which can even speed up the healing process and flush away toxins on the skin. Remember that most piercings take around 6-8 weeks to heal. Most people want to head to the beach or pool for a swim but keeping the pierced area clean and dry (during the healing process) is vital. Therefore, getting your piercing in the springtime will allow enough healing time to show it off in the summertime!

During the colder seasons, certain areas like the ears and nose experience reduced blood flow due to the cold. However, less blood flow also means less possibility of swelling. When you get a new piercing, it’s best not to touch it to allow it to heal. One of the many benefits of getting a new piercing in the wintertime is that wearing layers of clothes will help prevent you from touching a new piercing. Still, you should be mindful of what winter clothes you wear; you want to avoid clothing that will catch on your piercing or rub against it.

As long as you follow the piercing aftercare, you can get a new piercing whenever is most convenient for you.

I hope you found this post helpful. Are you planning any new piercings in the near future? Let me know in the comment section below!

Is a widow's peak a flaw?

February 02, 2022 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

When I wrote about my large forehead, I didn't mention that I also have a widow's peak. Nevertheless, I never saw it as an imperfection. Growing up, I was surrounded by family members who shared this trait, thus I did not see it as a flaw. As a child, I was so used to widow's peaks that I used to find perfectly straight or rounded hairlines a little odd.

widow's peak hairline

The name widow's peak comes from the hairline's likeness to the hoods that used to be worn by widows. In 18th century England, women mourning their husbands wore hoods or caps with triangular points that extended into their foreheads. For this reason, having this trait was considered an omen of early widowhood. In reality, this type of hairline is neither a bad omen nor a flaw!

A widow's peak is a dominantly inherited V-shape that dips down near the centre of the forehead. Female celebrities Marilyn Monroe, Alyson Hannigan, Fran Drescher, and Kourtney Kardashian also have widow's peaks.

In males, a receding hairline can sometimes result in a widow's peak hairline. For men that haven't had a widow's peak, if the hair thins at the temples, a receding hairline can take on that shape.

If you have a widow's peak, you can style your hair whichever way you like. The best way to show off your widow's peak is to slick your hair back or pull it into a ponytail. If you can't embrace your widow's peak, try side-swept bangs or a fringe to help conceal it. A pulled back ponytail parted down the middle can help balance the widow's peak's appearance.

Do you have a widow's peak too? If so, do you consider it a flaw?

How to apply perfume to make it last longer

January 31, 2022 1 Comments

Hello everyone!

Applying your perfume is probably the fastest step in your beauty routine; a few sprays here and there, and you’re done. You may not even think about how to apply perfume, but you're probably applying it the wrong way. Yes, there is in fact a right and a wrong way to apply your fragrance.

Here are some secrets to make your scents last:

Apply perfume right after taking your shower

Perfume is able to absorb better into the skin when it's warm and the pores are open. So it's a good idea to apply it post-shower once the skin is dry but still warm.

Apply perfume after using an unscented body oil or lotion

Dry skin doesn't hold perfume, as well as oily skin, does. The oilier your skin is, the better it holds scent. So layer on an unscented body oil or lotion, and then apply your perfume.

Make sure your deodorant is unscented too

When you're wearing a perfume, stick with an unscented deodorant to make sure the different aromas don't clash.

Try fragrance layering

This consists of combining different fragrant products such as; body wash, deodorant, body lotion, perfume) either of the same fragrance or combining different ones. The more you layer the stronger the scent.

Apply perfume by spritzing, not misting

Many people spray perfume into the air and then walk through it. In my opinion, if you do that, you’re just wasting product. The scent will evaporate after a short amount of time. A direct spray onto bare skin is all you need.

Apply perfume on your pulse points

To make your scent last longer, choose a couple of pulse points. These are warm areas that’ll help diffuse the fragrance across your entire body. Your pulse points on your body include the inside of your wrists, inner elbows, your neck, below your belly button, behind your ear lobes, and the back of your knees.

Don’t rub your wrists together after applying perfume

Don’t dab the fragrance on your wrists after spraying. Dabbing perfume on your wrists and then rubbing them together, will cause the scent to disappear faster than intended.

Spray your clothes with perfume

Don’t just stick to spraying perfume on your body; spray it on your clothes too. Clothing fibres are able to hold in scents for a very long time.

Apply perfume on your hairbrush

Spraying an alcohol-based fragrance directly onto your hair will dry it out, so instead spray the fragrance on your brush before running it through your hair. This way, your hair will be lightly scented and undamaged.

Don't store perfume in your bathroom

Heat, light, and humidity will break down the perfume and lessen the quality and intensity of the fragrance. Instead, store your perfume bottles in a cool, dry place.

What's you favourite perfume? Tell me in the comments section below!
