Eleven (11) tips to stop your nail polish from chipping

Image
Hello everyone! We've all had it happen: after perfecting our  manicure , we look down and realize our nail polish has chipped. It's frustrating and annoying to see all that hard work go to waste. While many of us may blame  nail polish  formulas, the problem could actually be the application technique . With these simple tricks, you can extend the life of your manicure and prevent chips . Always wipe each nail with remover before applying polish.  Then wash your hands with soap and water to get rid of any remaining oil. Do not file your nails in different directions.  If you're treating your nail file like a saw, you're making your nails more prone to peeling and breakage.  Buff your nails.   This will remove any residue and get rid of ridges. Apply a base coat.  Polish will adhere best to nails prepped with a base coat. Not only does a basecoat protect your nails from stains, but it also fills ridges and strengthens nails. Do not shake the bottle.  Simply roll your n

Six beauty trends to ditch in 2016

Image
Hello everyone! So it's already January 20th and this is my first post in 2016.  My year started with a lot of internet connection problems, but hopefully that issue is resol ved ( fingers crossed) .   So let's get started!  From mid-length haircuts  to no-light gel nail polishes  ( which  I  ❤) , 2015 brought us a lot of beauty trends, but there are a few trends that I think should be left behind.  Check out the six beauty trends to ditch in 2016:  Instagram eyebrows -  The Instagram brow or the  faded eyebrow, is very popular among MUAs because it photographs well, but in person, it is very odd-looking. Heavy contour:  Contouring has been around for years but it reached new heights in 2015 with techniques like clown contouring .   Waist trainers:   While many believe that wearing a waist trainer will help them get an hour glass shape, the results are only temporary and can cause some health problems.  Overdrawn lips:   Thanks to Kylie Jenner, the obsession

Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Revamped gel manicure

Image
Hello everyone! Remember the glitter gel manicure I showed you in my previous NOTD post?  Well it's been two weeks and as you can see in the photos below, now it doesn't look as good! I don't want to remove it yet (I'm worried the process will damage my nails), so I decided to revamp it! On my glitter nails, I used a Shimmery Burgundy nail polish to paint a v-shape over the gap between my cuticles and the gel.  I also applied two coats of  the same polish over the teal colour.  I sealed this manicure with one coat of top coat, as usual. I really like the shimmery burgundy and gold colour combination! With this revamped mani I hope I can put off removing the gel for at least a week, allowing my nail to grow a little longer. Do you like my revamped gel mani?  Tell me in the comments below!

Hello everyone! Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and   this is a super easy way to decorate your nails for the occasion!    Paint the leaves in a V-shape, just like the Valentine's Day hearts . Did you know?  According to legend, Saint Patrick used the three-leaved  shamrock  to explain the  Holy Trinity  to Irish pagans. Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Have you got anything special planned?

DIY: Nail art dotting tools

Image
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about dotting tools.   Nail art dotting tools come in a variety of sizes and are used to help create dot and circle patterns.  How to use:  As you probably know, just dip the end of your dotting tool in nail polish, and dot away! It’s also easy to create your own nail dotting tools using stuff you have lying around at home.    I use these all the time to create polka dot designs. (Check out some of my designs below ! )  Here's how you can make  four different DIY dotting tools .  Enjoy!  1 From micro points to polka dots,  a toothpick  is an obvious and most popular choice for dotting.  Be sure to purchase picks with flattened bases for an extra shape to play around with! 2 Bobby pins  are another cheap and convenient alternative.   Just bend them out straight, and use the round tips at the end like regular dotting tool. 3 You can also use ballpoint pens .  I suggest tha

Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Silver crackle

Hello everyone! Today's  post is a double NOTD post !  My mum and I are both wearing   Silver Crackle nail polish.  Check out both looks below and vote for who wore it better ! ;)  This is what I am wearing on my nails today...   I applied one coat of  Sparkling Black nail polish and one coat of  Silver Crackle on my thumb and ring finger nails. My mum is wearing Silver Crackle on top of a Shimmery Burgundy polish ... Tips: The thinner you apply the crackle polish, the smaller the cracks with look. Never try to apply two coats of crackle nail polish. Do you like the end results?   Who wore it better me or my mum? ;)  Let me know in the comment section below.
