Hello, everyone!
After thinking about it for years, I finally got my helix piercing today — and it is officially my seventh ear piercing.
Back in May 2020 I wrote a post called New ear piercing and future piercings? where I shared that I wanted two more: a flat in my right ear and a helix in my left. At the time I said those two would complete the look I had in mind. Six years later, the helix is finally here.
It feels a bit strange (and lovely) to look back at that old post and realise how long the idea has been sitting quietly in the background. Life, healing timelines, timing, and simply not feeling ready all played their part. Today the timing finally felt right.

The piercing itself
I kept it simple. A clean helix piercing on the left ear with a small, good-quality stud to start the healing process. Nothing dramatic — just the placement I’ve been picturing for years.
As many of you know, I recently mentioned that I had six piercings with a seventh on the way. Today that seventh piercing became real. Adding the helix feels like a natural next step rather than a sudden decision.
What happens next
I’m treating this one with the same patience I give all my piercings. That means:
- Cleaning with sterile saline as advised
- Being careful with hair, headphones and sleeping position
- No unnecessary touching or jewellery changes while it heals
- Accepting that cartilage takes its time
I’ll share healing updates if there’s anything useful to report along the way.

It’s funny how some ideas stay with us for years until the moment simply feels right. I’m glad I waited until it did.
Have you ever gone back to an old plan or wish and finally followed through on it years later? Or is there a piercing you’ve been thinking about for a long time? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments.
Until next time, take care of yourselves (and your piercings!).
With love,
