Hello, everyone.
Let’s open Door Number 5…
Let’s open Door Number 5…
Today I’m sliding a tiny, handwritten note into your pocket. You don’t have to show anyone. You don’t even have to say it out loud. Just know it’s there.
Cosette’s Official December Permission Slip
This is your gentle reminder that in December you are allowed to:
- Say “no” to anything that steals your peace (extra parties, extra shopping, extra anything).
- Say “yes” to hot chocolate at 3 p.m., fairy lights in the middle of the day, and Christmas music on repeat.
- Cry if the carols make you miss someone.
- Laugh too loudly at silly traditions.
- Leave the dishes until tomorrow if tonight you need to sit under a blanket and watch the lights twinkle.
- Feel the full ache of longing and the full sparkle of joy (sometimes in the same five minutes). That’s what Advent is for.
You do not have to be perfectly merry. You only have to be perfectly you. Carry this permission slip in your heart all month. Pull it out whenever the world gets too loud. You’re doing beautifully, exactly as you are.
Your turn. In the comments, tell me one thing you’re giving yourself permission for this December.
I’ll start: I’m giving myself permission to fall asleep watching old Christmas films with the tree lights on. Every single night if I want to.
See you tomorrow for Door 6…
