Hello everyone!
In a previous post, I wrote about how I make my own natural toothpaste by mixing coconut oil and baking soda. I still use that DIY recipe, together with others I like. In another post, I also talked about the benefits of activated charcoal and included teeth whitening, among numerous other benefits.
What are the benefits of activated charcoal?
Today, I want to share a DIY recipe for an all-natural turmeric whitening toothpaste.Â
Â
Turmeric is a popular spice which has been used, as a healing and herbal remedy, for thousands of years. Turmeric is a well-known anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial herb, making it useful for home dental care. It is a natural product, which makes it a better alternative to commercial teeth whiteners. In fact, turmeric lacks the side effects of many commercial teeth whiteners. These include dental enamel damage, gum irritation, risk of tooth sensitivity, and more.
Possible benefits you can get from turmeric toothpaste include teeth whitening, reduced risk of gum pain and inflammation and reduced risk of gum disease.
If you want to keep your teeth and gums healthy and strong, then a homemade zero-waste toothpaste such as this is a great choice. Made of nothing but coconut oil and turmeric, this natural homemade whitening toothpaste is all you need to deep clean your teeth.
Ingredients:
- Organic cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil – 2 tbsp
- Organic turmeric powder – 1 tsp
How to use:
- Mix the two ingredients together in a small glass jar.
- Take a small amount on a soft brush and gently brush your teeth.Â
- Leave it on for five (5) minutes, then spit it out.Â
- Rinse thoroughly with water.
- Then, brush your teeth with regular toothpaste or another tooth-cleansing product to remove all traces of turmeric.
What do you think of this DIY? Will you be trying it out? Let me know in the comments section below!
Take care!
The many uses and benefits of turmeric seem never ending; it's an amazing spice and I love the idea of creating my own natural whitening toothpaste. It sounds great!
