Eye cream or no eye cream?

Have you ever wondered if you really need to use an eye cream?  Can you use your daily moisturiser around the eye area?

Some say it’s an absolute must to use an eye cream, while others disagree.  My personal opinion is that it depends.
In theory, you should use a different product that is formulated for sensitive skin around the eye area.  Facial moisturisers are formulated for the skin on the face and therefore are not ophthalmologist tested (i.e. not specifically tested and certified as safe to use near the eyes), and therefore can also cause irritation.
Then again, some facial moisturisers are safe to use all over your face and neck, including the eye area.  When this is the case it is clearly written in the product’s instructions.  If that’s not the case, with your daily face cream, you still need to use an eye cream to keep the sensitive skin around your eyes properly hydrated.

Besides, eye cream can help you target certain issues you may have now or later in life.  You should use an eye cream if you have issues like eye puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles around the eye area (crow's feet).  A regular face cream will not help you with these issues.
Since the skin around the eyes is typically one of the first places to start showing wrinkles, adding hydration to the area by using a specific eye cream can never hurt.

How to apply:

Gently dab a small amount of eye cream around the eye area with your finger or applicator.  Then, pat the area around the eye to help ensure that the eye cream you initially spread is absorbed into the skin.  Do not rub in or stretch the skin.  Always do this very gently!

Tips:

If you are using a face cream to treat acne, that cream should not be used around the eye area.

Also, if you are using a face cream with resurfacing active ingredients, again, never use it around the eye area because those ingredients are too harsh for such sensitive skin.

Do you use an eye cream?  Which one is your favourite?  I want to know your opinion.
