Twelve (12) vegan-friendly Advent calendars to shop right now

Image
Hello everyone! For Christians everywhere, Advent is  the period leading up to Christmas . For Catholics, this year, Advent starts on Sunday, the  27th of November .   The word "advent" means "arrival" or "coming".  Lately, the word advent has become associated with A dvent calendars . Calendars filled with chocolate began to appear in the late 1950s and soon began to spread around the world. But, in recent years, these calendars have become more popular than ever. While the date of the first day of Advent changes each year, mass-produced, Advent calendars tend to run from  December 1st through December 24th . An Advent calendar  helps count the days until Christmas , usually with a small item or phrase revealed each day.  The proper way to work through an Advent calendar is  to start with the box labelled "one".  The point of the calendar is not to count down but rather to count up towards Christmas Day. Advent calendars can have a variety of s

Best vegan and cruelty-free palettes for gifting 🎁

Hello everyone! It's that time of the year again; time for  Christmas gift shopping ! Finding the perfect gift   for everyone on your list can be very time-consuming. When shopping for Christmas gifts, I always choose vegan and cruelty-free gifts.  Many of you ask me about cruelty-free makeup and what it is exactly. Here's what you need to know:  Vegan makeup  describes makeup that hasn't been formulated with any animal products or byproducts.  Cruelty-free  means that the product itself hasn't been tested on animals and that any raw materials used in making it weren't tested on animals, either. A product can be both, or one but not the other.  Not all vegan products are cruelty-free and not all cruelty-free products are vegan! Palettes are pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to beauty gifts. They are pretty and have tons of shades. Makeup palettes vary in shapes, sizes, tones and prices. However, not all palettes are created equal, so I’ve created a list of the

Holiday gift ideas for your dogs

Image
Hello everyone! Since the holiday season has officially started, I want to share a few gift ideas with you. This year, I'm starting with holiday gift ideas for your dogs! I always buy Christmas presents for  Rascal and, I know that the majority of dog guardians (I don't like the word owners) do the same for their pets. Rascal - Christmas 2020 I always dress Rascal in cosy sweaters during the colder months, so a warm outfit is always number one on my list! Dogs can get cold, just like us! Small dogs, as well as dogs with short coats, feel the cold more sharply than larger dogs or breeds with thick coats. These dogs may need a sweater or coat when outside for extended periods during the winter. Check out my picks: Collars and accessories are a perfect gift for dogs that do not need or want to wear clothes. Toys and treats are always good gift ideas that your furry friends will surely enjoy. These are just a few gift ideas I wanted to share with you today. If you have pets,

Cute and easy back to school hairstyles

Hello everyone! I lived here in Malta all my life.  What many of you might not know is that: students in Malta have to wear a uniform.  They also have a strike dress code, and makeup is not allowed.  There are also regulations regarding hairstyles, schoolbags and the wearing of jewellery.   But since this post is all about  back to school hairstyles , let's focus on hair regulations for a second.  Hairstyles "unbecoming the school uniform" (whatever that means) are strictly forbidden.  Students have to keep their hair tidy and tied back if it is long.   No "extravagant" hair colouring is allowed.  Only simple hair bands matching the school colours may be worn; other hair accessories are not allowed.  Needless to say that fashion-wise, my schooldays were not fun at all! For this reason, in today's post, I will include simple hairstyles that can be worn by most hair types.  And for all the lucky ones who can rock their hair however they like, I will also inclu

Accessorising during a pandemic

Hello everyone! Now that  face masks  are the essential new accessory whenever we step outside the house, we cannot wear big hoops or dangle earrings anymore.  If you try to pair a face mask with dangle earrings or large hoops you will probably spend way too much time fussing around and untangling them from the mask straps.  To avoid this annoying distraction, here are my picks for the best face mask-friendly earrings. What are the best earrings to wear with a face mask? – STUDS! Before Covid-19 I loved wearing hoops and statement earrings.  Studs seemed so basic!  But now stud earrings are the new must-have.  It’s the only way to wear a mask and not have your earrings become entangled with the straps. If you are in the market for some new jewellery, you can click on any of the images below to shop some of my personal favourites!  If you’re looking for some new earrings that won’t break the bank, perhaps one of these pairs will be the key to access

New ear piercing and future piercings? 👂

Image
Hello everyone! A little over two years ago I published a post titled " All about my piercings " in which I shared my ear piercing experience.  This past January I added another ear piercing but by the time it healed Covid-19 had spread and I forgot to write about it in my blog.  The "new" piercing I had done is nothing special, in fact, it's the most common piercing ever.   I added a second lobe piercing in my left ear.   Lobe piercing tends to be an almost universally accepted body modification.  This  piercing has a relatively quick healing time of 6 to 8 weeks.   Many people have second lobe piercings and most people choose to have a matching pair.  Well, not me!   I'm not a fan of symmetrical ear-piercing placements.  As I told you in the above-mentioned post, I have a standard lobe and a high lobe/auricle piercing in my right ear.  However, I chose to have a standard lobe and a second lobe piercing in my left ear.  I also have a tragus pierci

All about my ear piercings

Image
Hello everyone! Almost 5 weeks ago (26/02/2018) I had my right upper lobe pierced.  The reason why I got a new piercing is very simple: I already had two piercings in my left ear and I wanted two in my right ear as well.   After binge-watching videos on YouTube about piercings, I decided to make a blog post about my piercings. In my left ear, I have a standard lobe and a tragus piercing. Standard lobe piercing Age:  Around 2 months (1985).   My mum had my lobes pierced as a baby.  It is still fairly common to pierce babies here in Malta and in the '80s when I was born, it was even more so.  In fact, gold earrings were a very popular baptism gift for a baby girl. Needle or gun:  Gun. Pain:  I don't remember. Healing process:  Very easy, according to my mum. Tragus piercing Age:  16 years (back in 2001).  I was a first-year student at Junior College, I was finally free from the dreaded school uniform and the no mak
