The best earrings for your face shape

Image
Hello everyone! Knowing your face shape can be helpful when choosing your hairstyle, makeup, eyebrow shape, glasses and even earring style. A long time ago, I shared a quiz to help you determine which  face shape  you have. In previous posts, I talked about  the best eyebrows for your face shape   and  the best sunglasses for your face shape . Today, I want to share some tips on how to choose the  best earring  that will flatter and define your features. It is important to choose earrings that complement your natural beauty rather than choosing ones that are 'in style'.  A simple trick is to pick the earrings that are opposite to your face shape.  Keep reading to see what I mean by this. Round face Drop earrings and long dangles look stunning on you, as long earrings will help to elongate your face. Earrings with a sleek and long build are your best choice. Square face Round earrings, such are hoops, are your best choice. Earrings with rounded edges are a great choice because t

How to style uneven earlobe piercings

Image
Hello everyone! As you can see from the current most popular posts in the sidebar, piercing-related articles are well-liked on this blog. Today I want to talk to you about an unfortunate situation; that sadly is not that uncommon! Uneven piercings occur   when one ear is pierced slightly higher or off to one side from the other. When this happens, the only way to correct the problem is to have one of your lobes re-pierced to match the other. First, the earrings must be removed, and the piercing must close before you can pierce it again. Healing generally takes six to eight weeks. If a person only has one set of earlobe piercings , the best thing to do is getting one or both ears re-pierced. However, if the unevenness happens with a second or third set of lobe piercings , there can be other options. If getting them re-pierced isn't an option for you, and you do not want any more piercings , your best option is mixing and matching your earrings. Having different shapes and sizes a

Piercings and metal allergies

Hello everyone! Today's topic was suggested by one of my readers.  This person left a message on one of my most popular blog posts:  Misconceptions about ear piercings There are several metals that are safe for  body piercing  and others that aren’t.  The wrong type of metal can stall the body’s healing process or cause an allergic reaction.  Nickel is a common culprit for skin irritation.   Contrary to popular belief , nickel is used in both inexpensive and expensive metals .   In less expensive jewellery,  nickel  is often used in the  base metal  which is then plated with  gold  or silver.   Even the smallest quantity of nickel can cause the skin to turn black, green, or another colour. Unlike some other allergic reactions, a nickel response happens slowly with repeated or prolonged exposure.  In most people, it causes excessive itchiness and a dry, scaly red rash; also known as  allergic contact dermatitis .  This kind of  dermatitis (also called eczema) develops in places whe

Accessorising during a pandemic

Hello everyone! Now that  face masks  are the essential new accessory whenever we step outside the house, we cannot wear big hoops or dangle earrings anymore.  If you try to pair a face mask with dangle earrings or large hoops you will probably spend way too much time fussing around and untangling them from the mask straps.  To avoid this annoying distraction, here are my picks for the best face mask-friendly earrings. What are the best earrings to wear with a face mask? – STUDS! Before Covid-19 I loved wearing hoops and statement earrings.  Studs seemed so basic!  But now stud earrings are the new must-have.  It’s the only way to wear a mask and not have your earrings become entangled with the straps. If you are in the market for some new jewellery, you can click on any of the images below to shop some of my personal favourites!  If you’re looking for some new earrings that won’t break the bank, perhaps one of these pairs will be the key to access

Misconceptions about ear piercings

Image
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about  some common misconceptions about ear piercings  that just aren't accurate.  Although ear piercings are relatively common, there are a lot of misconceptions about them that are fairly widespread.  1.  Ear piercings are straightforward. They are popular but that doesn't mean they're simple.   While ear piercings are very common, they still involve some serious risks.  The most common (even though all are relatively uncommon) include: Abscess Allergic reaction Perichondritis Embedded earrings Infection Keloid scarring Traumatic tearing 2.  Earrings have to be moved quite often. This is one of the worst pieces of advice you can give to someone who decided to get a piercing.  Turning the earring regularly only makes the wound worse and inevitably, it takes longer to heal. 3.  If a piercing closes up, you can just pierce it again.

New ear piercing and future piercings? 👂

Image
Hello everyone! A little over two years ago I published a post titled " All about my piercings " in which I shared my ear piercing experience.  This past January I added another ear piercing but by the time it healed Covid-19 had spread and I forgot to write about it in my blog.  The "new" piercing I had done is nothing special, in fact, it's the most common piercing ever.   I added a second lobe piercing in my left ear.   Lobe piercing tends to be an almost universally accepted body modification.  This  piercing has a relatively quick healing time of 6 to 8 weeks.   Many people have second lobe piercings and most people choose to have a matching pair.  Well, not me!   I'm not a fan of symmetrical ear-piercing placements.  As I told you in the above-mentioned post, I have a standard lobe and a high lobe/auricle piercing in my right ear.  However, I chose to have a standard lobe and a second lobe piercing in my left ear.  I also have a tragus pierci
