Advent calendar 2025: Day 15 – The unsent letter

Hello, everyone!
Let’s open Door Number 15…

Today’s gift is one of the quietest, most healing things I know — and it never has to leave your hands.

The Unsent Letter

Take a piece of paper (or open a blank note on your phone) and write a letter you will never send.

To anyone — or to anything:

  • The younger version of you who needs to hear “you did your best.”
  • Someone who hurt you and you still carry.
  • Someone you miss who isn’t here anymore.
  • The person you wish you could thank but never got the chance.
  • Even to God — a prayer poured out without needing an answer right now.
  • Or to yourself, ten years from now.
Write it all — the messy, the tender, the unfinished.
No grammar, no filter, no need to make sense.

When you’re done, you decide what happens next:

  • Fold it and tuck it away.
  • Burn it safely.
  • Bury it in a drawer.
  • Or delete it.
The magic isn’t in sending it.
The magic is in letting the words finally exist outside your heart.

I wrote one this morning — a prayer that felt too raw to say out loud.
Then, I deleted it. I already feel lighter.

Your turn. In the comments, just leave a comment or a 📝 if you wrote (or will write) your unsent letter today. No details needed — I’ll know.

See you tomorrow for Door 16…
