My goals for 2015

December 31, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Happy New Year's Eve!  I thought it would be a good idea to share my goals for the new year (aka resolutions), maybe they can inspire some of you.

I believe that you should set goals any time, but with the start of a new year it's a good idea to start afresh!  Here are some of my goals for 2015:

  • Keep exercising daily - I try to hoop for at least one hour everyday and I love it.  With hooping your can burn 400-600 calories per hour while having fun and feeling great.  If you want to know more about hooping, click here.  Sometimes I also workout using full length videos from BeFiT and FitnessBlender.  If one of your goals is to get in shape or lose weight, I suggest you check out those links!
  • Make more time for piano practice - A few years ago, I bought a keyboard and was determined to learn how to play the piano.  Years went by and I haven't practiced nearly as much as I should have.  So this year I will make it a point to practice every week.  I know that ideally one should practice every day, but I also know that that would be a resolution I couldn't keep.
  • Regulate my sleep pattern -  I usually go to bed after 4:30/5:00 am and wake up around noon.  I know that this is not ideal and as a result, I miss breakfast everyday, which in not healthy.  In 2015 I will try to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day.
  • Eat less chocolate  - I always eat very healthy meals but I cannot give up  chocolate.   I love chocolate, and not the healthier dark chocolate with very high percentage of cacao.  I only eat milk chocolate, even though I'm well aware of its ingredients (mainly sugar and fat) and that it's not good for our bodies.  Especially not if you eat it every day like I do.  Milk chocolate is also the only "dairy product" I eat.
  • Last but not least, I’ll try my best to post more frequently on this blog in 2015.

2015 is also the year of my GOLDEN birthday; I'll turn 30 on May 30th!

What are your goals for the new year?  Share them in the comment section below.

Ten simple tips for healthy winter skin

December 30, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

The cold weather has finally arrived here in Malta!  As we all know, winter can be extremely hard on our skin.  The cold, dry air during this season takes moisture from our skin, leaving it looking dull and dry.   Additionally, many comforts we seek from the cold such as; long baths, hot showers and indoor heating sources, all contribute to dry our skin even further, making it flaky and itchy.

As I told you in a previous post, temperature variations can take a toll on our skin and as the seasons change, so do our skin care needs.  Below you will find 10 simple tips for healthy winter skin and in the infographic below you’ll find even more details on how to avoid dryness and stay moisturised.
  1. Moisturise with SPF
  2. Avoid hot water
  3. Drink more water
  4. Use oil-based moisturisers
  5. Go natural
  6. Exfoliate
  7. Wear gloves
  8. Wear lip balm
  9. Humidify
  10. Avoid acne treatments

Change up your skin care routine this winter and enjoy a healthy winter glow.

Five essentials for staying productive & focused

December 29, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on our work; whether it's our job, school, or even blogging.  This is why I decided to share my tips on how I personally stay focused and get things done.  Here are my 5 essentials for staying productive & focused!

1. To-Do list
Every night, before bedtime, create a to-do list with a set of things you need to complete.  Most of the time, it is actually easier to do things when you know what you need to do.  Don’t try to tackle too many tasks in one day.  You’ll feel very satisfied when you see everything checked off at the end of the day.

Also, if one of the items on your to-do list is getting your small business off the ground, check out  It's the world’s fastest and easiest way to get funds to grow your business.  Kabbage prides themselves on helping entrepreneurs who are striving to achieve their goals by providing small business loans For additional information visit their website.

2. No multitasking
Now that you have a To-Do list, get the most important tasks done first.  Multitasking can make you feel that you actually accomplish more,  however  experience has taught me that prioritising items is better.  If you really need to concentrate on something, you must give it your undivided attention.

3. Music
Put on your headphones and listen to music that helps you focus.  I find I work best while listening to music; if it’s too noisy or too quiet, my mind tends to wonder and I get distracted.

4. Stay off social media
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest; they all can be pretty addictive.  Try not to log in to social media while you are working, unless you have to update an online profile/page as part of your job.  If you want to check social media sites on your break,  do not linger more than 10 minutes.

5. Take a break
Just getting away for awhile and focusing on something else can be beneficial.  Take a 10 to 15 minute break every two hours and give your mind a break.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that some of my tips help you stay focused.  Let me know in the comment section below what you do to stay focused; I’m always looking for things to help me be more productive.

A Very Merry Christmas

December 24, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Christmas is, undoubtedly, my favourite time of the year.  Nonetheless, it is easy to get lost in the haste of activity during the holiday season.  So my wish is that you may get time to take in the true meaning of the season and have a Very Merry Christmas!

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!  What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.  What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”

Hoping you can feel love, joy, and peace this Christmas.

Hello everyone!

Christmas is almost here and for many of us, this is a great time of year for catching up with family and friends.  However, you should not let this be an excuse to overindulge!  Here are ten tips to help you have a healthier party season.

  4. Don't sit down all day.
  5. Exercise regularly.

  8. Limit your alcohol consumption.
  9. Re-hydrate!  Drink plenty of water.
  10. Get some quality sleep.

DIY: Strengthening nail soak

December 17, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Today I want to share with you an all-natural DIY nail soak for strong, healthy fingernails.  This is perfect for those of you who want to grow long fingernails.  All you need are two simple ingredients!  Here's the recipe...

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tablespoon plain gelatin
  • Boil the water.
  • Put the gelatin in a glass and pour the boiling water over it.
  • Mix thoroughly until well combined.
How to use:
  • Let the mixture cool until warm.
  • Soak your nail for about 5 minutes.
  • Take fingers out and massage the mixture on your nails and cuticles.
  • Rinse well.
  • Use several times a week and you should see results in just 2 weeks!

Pour any unused mixture into a resealable container and keep refrigerated.  Of course, gelatin will firm up quickly in the fridge.  Next time you want to pamper your nails, just scoop out the desired amount and warm it in a microwave for a few seconds.  It will melt quickly and be ready to use!

Gelatin is an easy and convenient way to build strong, beautiful nails!

I hope you found this helpful.  If you use this DIY share your results in the comment section below.  Oh, and if you know of a vegan substitute that will work for this DIY, please let me know.

Tell L’Oreal: We demand cosmetics without cancer!

December 11, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

A few months ago I blogged about the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and their online petition asking P&G to remove cancer-causing chemicals from cosmetics.

This time the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics’ investigation of L’Oreal products exposed a shocking use of carcinogens in its eye make-up.  They also found cancer-causing chemicals in nail polish and hair products made by L’Oreal’s brands Maybelline and Garnier as well as potential contamination with cancer-causing chemicals in anti-ageing creams.

Learn more about what they discovered in L’Oreal make-up and personal care products.

Do you usually read the ingredient list before buying a new beauty products?  I do.  It might sound like a lot of work to study every ingredient before buying a product, but keep in mind that what you’re doing is protecting your body and your health.
