Image
Hello everyone! I have some exciting news!  GlamST  just launched a new version of their virtual program. When the website first launched, you could only try one type of eyeliner application, and only one eye shadow at a time.  Well now you can actually try different ways of applying eyeliner and eye shadows!   For instance, if you would like to try a smokey eye , you can choose a darker shade at the outer corner of your eyes, a middle shade for your crease and a highlighter at the inner corner.  As you can see in the picture below, you can try eight different ways of applying eye shadows . You can also try six different ways of applying eyeliner .  In the looks section , you can check out all the virtual makeovers shared by members of the GlamSt community.  And now you can also click on any photo in the looks section and click the try button to try out the look! Check out the latest virtual makeover I tried using the new features!   So happy

Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Glitter gel manicure

Image
Hello everyone! My brother is getting married next Friday so I decided to get a manicure that compliments my dress.  I was worried my nails would break or chip at the last minute so I opted for a  gel manicure.   Gel manicure is a process that gives you an instant dry manicure that supposedly lasts for 14 chip-proof days .  It is applied in layers and each layer is sealed under a U.V. lamp .   Scroll down for more...  Although I am happy with my nails now, I’m a bit worried about eventually removing the gel.   It’s going to be a lot tougher to remove than a regular nail polish.  To remove the gel you either need to soak your nails in pure acetone , which is VERY drying or FILE IT OFF ! I'll keep you posted!   In the meantime I would like to hear from you.  Who had gel nails before?  Would you consider getting them?  Leave a comment and let me know.

DIY: Make-up setting spray

Image
Hello everyone! You have probably noticed that most make-up setting sprays can be quite pricey, but this DIY setting spray  is very affordable.  It has only 2 ingredients and it is healthy for your skin.  What more could you ask for?  You will need: vegetable glycerin rose water small spray/mister bottle Method: The recipe calls for a 1:10 glycerin to distilled water ratio .  I like to substitute the water with rose water .  Instead of just water, you could also use a mixture of water, rosewater and witch hazel .  Measure the glycerin and put it into the spray bottle. Add the rose water. Shake to amalgamate the ingredients together. How to use: UPDATE:  Vegetable glycerin for glowing skin! Spray before you apply any make-up as a primer and again after you have applied your make-up to seal it in place.  Don’t hold the spray bottle too close, you don’t want to get your face wet!  Just a slight mist will do.  This spray helps set your f

DIY: Blemish killer stick

Image
Hello everyone! Today I have another beauty DIY for you.  My skin has been fairly clear until a couple of days ago when it started flaring up again (only a couple of pimples, but still).  The problem is, I've been so busy lately that I didn't have time to pamper my skin with one of my usual homemade masks.  So, I found myself constantly reaching for my tea tree oil and  rubbing  a drop on my blemishes.  I figured I should make a DIY treatment that is quick to make and easy to use. The DIY blemish killer stick  is the easiest thing you can make to get rid of pimples, especially if you don't have the time to prepare a DIY mask, apply it, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, etc.   DIY blemish killer stick You will need: 3/4 tbsp coconut oil  1-3 drops tea tree oil an empty lip balm tube Both coconut oil and tea tree oil are naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal .  These properties help with reducing  redness and puffiness and fighting bacteria .

Hello everyone! It's time for another favourites post.  These are four of my   favourite  beauty products  from last month! Garnier Fructis Oil Repair 3 Ultra Nourishing Mask I tried a bunch of different hair masks and this is one of my favourites.  This hair mask is enriched with 3 active oil; olive, avocado and shea-butter , to nourish and repair dry, damaged and dull hair.  I use it as a deep conditioner and I really love it.  After washing it out, my hair feels soft and moisturised. I also love the Garnier Fructis Henna and Blackberry Vinegar hair mask and currently I am trying out their mask for curly hair.   And if you are looking for a DIY hair treatment,  why don't you try  my latest DIY hair mask ?   Nivea Deodorant Pure & Natural Action I love this deodorant because it's aluminium - free and lets the skin breathe.  It  doesn't  clog pores and it claims to offer 48 hour protection.  I also like the delicate jasmine scent .  I do

DIY: Banana hair mask

Image
Hello everyone! Do you remember the banana peel skincare post?  Back in August of 2012 a wrote about how bananas can help acne, psoriasis, warts and poison ivy. Bananas are a very rich source of potassium and vitamins , which also make them the perfect choice for a DIY hair mask . This mask is very easy to prepare, all you need is one or two ingredients. Ingredients: 1 banana (the riper, the better) 1 tbsp honey (optional) Method: Blend banana in a food processor , making sure there aren't any chunks. Add honey (optional) Apply the mixture to your hair, and cover it with a shower cap or plastic bag .  ( more info: A t-home deep-conditioning hair treatment ) To lock in the nutrients, wrap a hot towel around your head. Wait 20 minutes . Shampoo and condition your hair as usual. Tips: You can also add olive oil  or a tablespoon of conditioner . Use  once a week for best results. Ideal for thin and damaged hair.
