DIY: Anti-ageing serum

November 12, 2021 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

I am 36 years old and, I know that you cannot get completely rid of wrinkles, fine lines, and other ageing signs. However, you can slow the process down and make your skin look youthful. In this post, I want to share a homemade anti-ageing serum that will help reduce the signs of ageing

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp aloe vera gel
  • 3 capsules vitamin E
  • 2 tbsp rose water
  • 5 drops lavender or rosehip essential oil (optional)
  • 1 tbsp glycerin

The essential oil is optional because some people with sensitive skin avoid using them on their faces.

Method:

  1. Place the aloe vera gel in a bowl.
  2. Add vitamin E capsules.
  3. Add rose water and mix well.
  4. Add glycerin and mix again.
  5. Lastly, add 5 drops of essential oil.
  6. Store this anti-ageing serum in a clean, airtight container.

This anti-ageing serum has incredible benefits for your skin as it is made with all-natural ingredients. Keep reading.

About the ingredients:

Aloe vera works as an anti-ageing agent. It has Beta Carotene, Vitamin C and Vitamin E that keep your skin soft and smooth.

Vitamin E has antioxidants that are good for your skin. It keeps your skin healthy and soft.

Rosewater not only cleans your skin but also hydrates it.

Glycerin moisturises your skin and keeps dryness at bay.

Lavender and rosehip essential oils help in reducing the appearance of ageing.

When to use:

The best time to use this DIY serum is before you go to bed. Wash your face then, take 2-3 drops of serum and massage it all over your face and neck.

If you want to slow down the ageing process:

  • avoiding smoking
  • avoiding spending too much time in the sun
  • staying hydrated
  • eating foods that are rich in antioxidants such as; blueberries, raspberries, apples, broccoli, cabbage, spinach, eggplant, and legumes like red kidney beans or black beans

DIY: Skin lightening serum

March 05, 2017 7 Comments
Hello everyone!
As many of you may already know, I struggled with acne for years.  I have spent a lot of time looking for ways to clear up my acne.  What eventually helped me clear my skin was a clean, vegan diet and using natural, homemade skincare products.  However, I'm still dealing with acne scars on my face.
Before I became vegan, I used honey and yogurt (like my DIY: Greek yoghurt, oatmeal and honey facial mask and my DIY: Micro-dermabrasion pasteto help fade acne scars and both ingredients work really well, but now I'm only using plant-based ingredients.
Today I want to share the all-natural, vegan facial serum I'm currently using.  If you have any form of hyperpigmentation on your skin, you are going to love this DIY!
Ingredients:
  • 1 tbs sweet almond oil
  • 2 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 4 drops of sandalwood essential oil

Sweet almond oil is a wonderful carrier oil and it’s been used for ages to lighten and brighten skin.

Lemon essential oil is well-known for its skin-brightening effects.  Lemon juice is also very effective.

Sandalwood essential oil is a skin lightening, skin brightening oil.  It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.  It is also high in antioxidants that can help reduce damage caused by free radicals, which promote ageing.

Method:
  1. Combine ingredients in a glass bottle (preferably with a dropper).
  2. Gently turn the bottle to allow the oils to mix well.
  3. Use 3-4 drops on damp, clean skin before bedtime.
  4. Optional - Moisturise as usual.
  5. Use every day for best results.

Notes:
  • Lemon essential oil  increases photosensitivity - you need to protect your skin from the sun while using this serum!
  • This serum will not get rid of indentations or protrusions left behind by acne.  It will only fade the flat red or brown dots left behind by pimples aka post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Have a great day!

Directions for use:

Shake before use.  Apply once daily, to wet or dry hair, about one or two full droppers.  Part your hair and apply directly to the scalp in the areas that are thinning.  The measurement does not need to be exact, apply enough serum for good coverage.  Massage in with fingertips, then wash hands well.

Ingredients:

Water/Aqua/Eau (and) Glycerin (and) Sodium Metabisulfite (and) Glycine (and) Larix Europaea Wood Extract (and) Zinc Chloride (and) Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide, Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract [Malus stem cells], Tripeptide (AHK), Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF, rh-Polypeptide-3), Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, Argania Spinosa Sprout Cell Extract, PEG/PPG-20/23 Dimethicone, Mannitol (and) Ammonium Glycyrrhizate (and) Caffeine (and) Zinc Gluconate (and) Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, D-Panthenol, Radix Polygoni Multiflori Preparata Extract, Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins (Vitis Vinifera Seed Extract), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Saw Palmetto (Serenoa Repens) Fruit Extract, Horse Chestnut (Aesculus Hippocastanum) Seed Extract, Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Root Extract, Indian Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata) Resin Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Triethanolamine, Beta-sitosterol, Copper Tripeptide-1, Prezatide Copper Acetate, Crithmum Maritimum Callus Culture Filtrate (CIC2), Pygeum Africanum, Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase, Soy Isoflavones, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid.

My experience:

I received a bottle of RevivHair Stimulating Serum from RevivSerums in exchange for an honest review.  This serum is clear and it leaves no residue after applying on wet or dry hair; I have tested it both ways.  Since I have an oily scalp, I was a bit concerned that this would make it even more so.  However, it turned out that my fears were unfounded.  RevivHair is not the least bit greasy, it’s not thick, and it doesn't feel heavy on my scalp or in my hair.

I can honestly say that this product really works.  Lately I noticed that my hair was becoming thinner at the hairline, which was freaking me out.  I already have a large forehead and a thinning hairline would make it even more noticeable.  Thankfully RevivHair helped a lot.  I've been using this serum everyday for the past four weeks.  After only four weeks my hair is thicker, fuller, longer and stronger (less shedding)!  Check out my before and after photos below - pictures speak louder than words!

My results:

Longer hair

Fuller hairline

Thicker ponytail

If you have shedding or thinning hair, RevivHair Stimulating Serum may be just what you need!  I highly recommend trying out this product and seeing for yourself how amazing it is!

DIY: All-natural facial serum

March 30, 2016 3 Comments
Hello everyone!

It's been a while since my last DIY beauty recipe, so today I want to share with you the recipe for my favourite all-natural facial serum.

For those who don't know what facial serums are;  facial serums are lightweight moisturisers that contain a concentrated amount of nourishing ingredients.  So let's get started!  This is a very simple DIY, all you need are four ingredients.  Here's my recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp Aloe vera gel - Soothes skin from irritation and inflammation.
  • 2 tbsp castor oil - Great skin moisturiser, delays the signs of ageing and reduces acne.
  • 2 tbsp vegetable glycerin - Keeps skin young and hydrated.
  • 2/4 drops of tea tree oil - Treats and prevents acne.

Method:

In a small glass pump bottle, combine all the ingredients.  Mix well until the ingredients are well amalgamated.

How to use:

Cleanse your face as usual, then apply two or three pumps of serum in place of your moisturiser.  I use it every night instead of my night cream and I love how my skin looks and feels in the morning

This serum works really well with my sensitive, acne-prone skin.  Because of its ingredients, it is also great for ageing and dry skin.  In other words, this all-natural serum can be beneficial to all skin types

Are facial serums part of your beauty routine?  Let me know in the comment section below and if you make this DIY recipe, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
