Advent calendar 2025: Day 19 – The Christmas scents

Hello, everyone!
Let's open Door Number 19…

Christmas isn’t just lights and songs — it’s the smells that pull us straight back to childhood in one breath.

The Christmas Scents

Today, deliberately create (or hunt down) three classic Christmas aromas and let them fill your space.
My three for today (pine-free, because fresh pine gives me hives — full-body, itchy disaster):

• Cinnamon and orange: cloves studded into an orange, or a pot of mulled spices simmering on the stove (my absolute favourite)
• Gingerbread: bake some (even from a mix), or just open a packet and let the scent escape.
• Vanilla and nutmeg: a candle or a warm vegan drink with a pinch of both.

Light a candle that smells like cookies baking, warm some spiced cider, and tuck a cinnamon stick in your pocket. Let the air do the magic.
These smells are time machines.

One whiff and suddenly it’s Christmas Eve again, forever.
