Six (6) lifestyles that promote good health

Hello everyone!

You may not be able to change your genes, but you surely can optimise your way of life to boost your health. Practising healthy lifestyles can increase lifespan and reduce your risks of getting sick. Diseases like obesity, a prominent cause of death, are preventable when you adopt less damaging habits. Here are some simple tips to promote your health with a positive lifestyle.

1. Eating balanced diets

It's worth knowing that eating nutritious dishes can increase your energy and lower your risks of diseases, including diabetes and cancer. A Mediterranean diet, for instance, is healthy and useful for lowering your risk of getting several diseases. It includes more fruits and veggies, whole grains, healthy oils, and many herbs – no added sugar or highly processed foods. It's important to limit processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive salt intake. Begin making positive changes to your lifestyle by considering the above factors to benefit your health.

2. Getting enough rest

A good night's sleep benefits your body by allowing it to recharge and repair worn-out tissues. Experts say you need to enjoy 7 hours of sleep per night, just enough time for your system to care for its metabolic actions like removing toxins, recharging tired cells, and repairing damaged ones. It’s also worth understanding that not sleeping enough can impact your physical and mental wellness. Establishing a consistent sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, and ensuring a comfortable sleep environment are all key factors in achieving restful sleep.

3. Going for a routine health checkup

You should visit your doctor for routine checkups at least once every two or three years if you are below 50 and annually if you are above. Doctors can treat most diseases when they detect them early. Developing an open and honest relationship with your doctor is a good habit, as medical professionals can assess your mental and physical health. Incorporating chiropractic care into your check-up routine can enhance overall well-being by addressing musculoskeletal issues and promoting optimal nervous system function. A Chiropractor focuses on the spine's alignment, ensuring proper balance and mobility. Regular chiropractic check-ups can help identify and address misalignments that may contribute to discomfort, pain, or reduced flexibility. Chiropractic adjustments not only alleviate existing issues but also serve as a preventive measure against future problems, enhancing the body's natural healing capacity. This holistic approach considers the interconnectedness of the spine and nervous system, recognizing that spinal health influences various bodily functions. Including chiropractic care in routine check-ups can lead to improved posture, reduced stress, and enhanced mobility. This proactive approach to health complements traditional medical check-ups, offering a comprehensive strategy for maintaining physical well-being and preventing musculoskeletal issues before they become chronic.

4. Moving your body every day

Doing minor physical exercises is better than none. The recommended level is 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, and you can use a pedometer to help track your physical activity. The good thing is that performing 30-minute strength training sessions at least thrice weekly and working out various muscle groups can increase your bone density. This, in turn, minimises your risks of osteoporosis, eases stress, and improves your mental health. You may consider working with experts like Fitness 19 trainers to achieve your workout goals. Most fitness trainers are skilful at designing personalised workout plans to boost your intensity, improve results, and reduce the risks of injuries. If you are injured, seeing a chiropractor is a good idea to ensure your spine, joints, and muscles can recover quickly.

5. Saying no to nicotine consumption

Quitting smoking can extend your lifespan and decrease your risks of getting serious illnesses. The list of smoking-related diseases is tall. Exposure to nicotine in tobacco can lead to health threats like cancer, high blood pressure, and coronary artery diseases. There is a strong connection between smoking, premature death, and erectile dysfunction in men. If you find quitting hard, you may want to seek health from your doctor.

6. Drinking alcohol moderately

You’ll also find it helpful to avoid or limit your alcohol consumption. Admittedly, drinking alcohol irresponsibly can cause problems ranging from accidents to hypertension, heart disease, cancer, and violence. The recommended moderate alcohol intake is one drink per day for women and two for guys.

Finding healthy ways to manage stress, such as practising mindfulness, engaging in hobbies, or seeking support from loved ones, also promotes overall well-being. By incorporating these key elements into your daily lives, you can unlock vitality and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
