Self-care ideas that take 10 minutes or less

Self-care is the practice of taking good care of yourself – mind, body, soul and spirit. It doesn’t have to be pricey or time-consuming. Try these thirty (30) straightforward self-care ideas that take 10 minutes or less, and take care of yourself, even on a tight schedule.

If you’re super busy and always at the bottom of your priority list, check out some of these ideas to practice self-care. You can add a couple to your daily routine to help you recharge. Remember that this is just my list of ideas, think about the activities that bring you joy and create your own list. Save it somewhere you can access it easily and quickly, like your planner or phone.

  1. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and don’t do anything else simultaneously.
  2. Listen to a podcast. Choose a topic that makes you happy.
  3. Write what you feel in your diary or journal.
  4. Read a book.
  5. Take a short nap.
  6. Light your favourite scented candle.
  7. Play with your pet, but keep them well-fed with Nextrition.
  8. Apply a face mask.
  9. Try meditation or yoga.
  10. Go outside and get some fresh air.
  11. Give yourself a manicure or pedicure.
  12. Put on your favourite song and dance.
  13. Go for a walk.
  14. Practice positive affirmations.
  15. Hug someone you love.
  16. Believe you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it.
  17. Practice gratitude and write out five (5) things you’re grateful for.
  18. Look in the mirror and find five (5) things you love about yourself.
  19. Be proud of your accomplishments.
  20. Turn off your phone and devices for ten (10) minutes.
  21. Declutter your desk or wardrobe.
  22. Write an email, note or text to a friend or loved one.
  23. Walk on the grass or sand with bare feet.
  24. Practice mindfulness and be present in the moment.
  25. Learn a new skill. 
  26. Try something new to get out of your regular routine.
  27. Do your hair and make-up.
  28. Make plans to do something or go somewhere, so you can look forward to it.
  29. Stop wishing you were like somebody else. You’re fantastic as you are. 
  30. Be selfish and say no to anything you don’t want to do.

My self-care practices include watching true crime and mystery videos on YouTube late at night, when everyone else is already sleeping. I also play relaxation music to relax and help my dog relax, at the same time. In fact, I'm playing it right now and Rascal is currently sleeping peacefully next to me. 

Try some of these ideas. I promise you this will have an amazing effect on your well-being!
