Finding a silver lining in Covid-19

A silver lining is a sign of hope or a positive aspect in an otherwise negative situation.

Every cloud has a silver lining

Hello everyone!

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, I spent most of my time at home.  I work from home and I shop online so I rarely go outside anymore.  This is even more true now that more pandemic restrictions are in place and everything is closed down once again.  I spent most of winter "hibernating"; meaning I pretty much binge watched tv shows and true crime videos all day long.  And this explains why I haven't written a blog post in a while.  However, now that spring is finally here (although spring weather still has to make an appearance), I cannot wait to get out of the house.

I'm fully aware that we are all currently living in odd and unsettling times, but it is so important that we take this rare opportunity and try to focus on the positive aspects.  Whenever possible at least.  Here are my silver linings:

  • Spending more time with my family and Rascal (my 2-year-old Maltipoo).

  • More time for cooking and baking; which I love!

Before these past couple of months, which I spent "hibernating", I used to do the four things listed below regularly, and that's exactly what I intend to start doing again!

  • Reading more than I used to pre-pandemic.  I'm constantly looking for good ebooks to download. My Goodreads lists keep getting longer.  My preferred genres are mystery, thriller and horror.
  • Practising the piano regularly and learning new songs.  There are various apps that I'm currently testing out and so far I think a couple of them are proving to be very helpful.

  • Trying new workout videos on YouTube.  I love dance workouts!  Who doesn't?
  • Blogging more frequently.  I even switched to a custom domain on January 1st!

The biggest thing that I'll be taking with me out of this experience is my appreciation for life.  I will never take the simple things for granted again like being able to walk Rascal without a mask and constantly having to cross the street to avoid direct contact with people, going shopping without stressing over everything I touch (the main reason why I shop online), going to the beach or the countryside.  Just so many things that I never thought would be taken away.

I can't wait until it's possible to do all of these things once again and I know whenever those days come, I'll be so grateful.

What are the positive aspects of your life that you choose to focus upon during the pandemic?
