Weightless jewellery!

September 28, 2014 1 Comments
Hello everyone!

Decorative gold and silver jewellery inspired temporary tattoos have become a fashion phenomenon in recent months.  Metallic tattoos are perfect for the beach, the pool, parties, festivals, concerts and the club!  Even Beyoncé has sported various metallic tattoos while on holiday in Europe, including gold necklaces, bracelets and even peacock feathers!

How do you put them on?
Cut out the tattoo as close to the edge as possible and remove the clear sheet.  Place the tattoo face down on your skin and hold a wet cloth against it for about 30 seconds.  Peel the paper aside then pat gently with the wet cloth.
How long do these tattoos last?
If transferred carefully, your tattoos will last about 4-6 days depending on where you place them and how well you take care of them.  To care for your temporary tattoos avoid any soap, lotions or oils.

How do you get them off?
Simply soak your skin in baby oil, olive oil or coconut oil for one minute then gently scrub off.

Where can you get them?

DIY: All-natural dry shampoo

September 23, 2014 1 Comments
Hello everyone!

Today I want to share with you my all-natural dry shampoo recipe.  Dry shampoo cleanses and refreshes the hair and scalp without the use of water.

  • Arrowroot powder
  • Corn flour (cornstarch)
  • Cocoa powder (optional - for dark hair)
  • Essential oil
Do the ingredients sound familiar?  All I did was add essential oil to my DIY translucent face powder recipe!

  1. Combine 2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder and 2 tablespoons of corn flour.
  2. Optional - Add in 2-4 tablespoons cocoa powder for dark hair.
  3. Add 6-10 drops of essential oil.
  4. Mix thoroughly.
How to use:
  • With a large make-up brush dust the powder on your roots, especially in the areas that tend to get oilier.
  • Use your fingers to distribute the powder.
  • Comb/Brush the excess powder out of your hair.
If you have curly hair massage the powder onto you scalp and do not brush your hair!

When to use:
  • After a workout.
  • On second or third day hair (between washes).
  • On clean hair for extra volume!
Don't use dry shampoo more than a twice in a row before washing your hair.

When used properly, not only does dry shampoo remove excess oil from your hair, it also adds texture and volume to your locks.  Dry shampoo is the perfect hair pick-me-upYou’ll have great-smelling hair and fabulous volume!

  • Use organic ingredients if possible.
  • Feel free to use any kind of essential oil you like.
This dry shampoo does not have any of the harmful chemical ingredients found in most store-bought dry shampoos.

Will you be making your DIY all-natural shampoo?  Let me know in the comment section below!

Interesting facts about organic skin care

September 11, 2014 26 Comments
Hello everyone!

I always talk about using the best possible ingredients for our skin, hair and body.  In today's post I want to give you more information about "natural" and "organic" products.  I'm also including current special offers from

cosmetics with active organic ingredients

Read the labels carefully!  A bottle marked "organic" must contain 95 percent organic ingredients, but those marked "natural" or "made with organic ingredients" may still contain "bad" ingredients aka harmful chemicals.

Did you know these facts about cosmetics with active organic ingredients?

Interesting Facts about organic Skin Care are currently offering free US shipping on orders over $50, free international shipping on orders over $125 and free $34 gift with every order over $40!

MICHAEL TODD skin care products are developed and made in the United States with certified organic ingredients, without added water and free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrance or artificial colour.  Also, MICHAEL TODD has never participated in animal testing.

I'm a huge believer in using organic products that have not been tested on animals and that are eco-friendly.  What are your thoughts on organic skin care products?  Leave a comment below and let me know!

The beauty benefits of exercise

September 03, 2014 1 Comments
Hello everyone!

Did you know that besides slimming down and adding muscle tone, working out can also benefit your skin and hair?  Exercise is one of the best ways to nourish and revitalise your body

By getting your heart pumping and increasing circulation your skin receives oxygenated blood that boosts detoxification and cell renewal.  A good workout helps regulate hormones and relieve stress that can cause acne and other skin problems.

Breaking a sweat allows more blood to reach the skin’s surface and deliver nutrients that repair damage from the sun and environmental pollutants. These nutrients also speed up the skin’s collagen production.  As we age our body produces less collagen but the nutrients delivered to the skin during exercise help your skin look younger.  Just make sure to wash your face afterwards!

Regular exercise also improves blood flow to your scalp, keeping your hair strong and healthy

Another benefit of exercise is better sleep.  Working out helps you sleep better and it's not called beauty sleep for nothing.  In deep sleep, the body repair and rebuild body tissues!

That said, exercise alone is not enough, you need to pair your workout with healthy food choices.

I already told you that I love hooping daily.  What is your favourite way to exercise?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Hello everyone!

I want to let you know that now that August is gone and summer is nearly over I will be posting regular.  September is also my blogiversary month.  I wrote my very first blog post on September 18th 2010!
