Hello everyone! Today is my 29th birthday !  I have never been one to make a big deal out of it, but I am realising that I need to celebrate getting older, and enjoy each moment because we are not promised tomorrow.  So today, there’s no new DIY beauty recipe or tutorial .   Instead, I am chilling and enjoying turning 29!   Instead of my usual devil's food birthday cake, this year I had birthday brownies !  If you didn't know; I'm a certified chocoholic! ;) Don't forget to follow me to get the latest updates and sneak peeks!  On my Facebook page you can currently find  sneak  peeks of 4 product reviews that will be posted in mid-June. Facebook Profile    |  Facebook Page  |  Twitter  |  Pinterest  |  Bloglovin ’  |  Google+   |  LinkedIn I don’t see value in having someone who never uses Facebook "like" my page.  The reason I want to connect with you is to   actually connect and get your feedback , not just to see my numbers go up on v

Re-grow over-plucked eyebrows! (part 2)

Image
Hello everyone! In this post I will give you more tips on how to grow back your eyebrows.  Read part 1 here ! Exfoliation is a method that can help the growth of eyebrow hair.  You can use a soft toothbrush or a spoolie to scrub and exfoliate the area.  Using the brush in circular motion will help to remove dead skin and will enhance the blood circulation.  Another way to exfoliate is by using an exfoliating scrub.  Try a DIY  recipe   here !  Apply the scrub in a circular motion and BE GENTLE .  Too much pressure can damage the fine, fragile hair that is already there.   The row-growing method: You need to STOP plucking, waxing and threading!   Although this seem like a no-brainer, the messy look that will develop when you leave your brows un-touched for a while is not  flattering. If you can't stand the idea of letting all your hairs grow out before you shape your eyebrows, try the row-growing method.   Allow hairs closest to the existing brow to grow out and SH

Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Pink & silver mani-pedi

Image
Hello everyone! Today I have another NOTD post for you.  This time it's a mani-pedi nails of the day .  I hope you like it!  This is what I'm wearing on my nails today... I applied two coats of  pink nail polish and then one coat of the silver crackle polish on top.  I applied the silver polish only on my middle and ring fingernails. Oh, and I'm also wearing the same colours on my toenails! Do you wear matching polish on your fingernails and toenails?  If not,  what are your  favourite mani-pedi colour pairings?  Leave a comment and let me know!

My eyebrow essentials

Image
Hello everyone! Having naturally dark brows, I've never felt the need to fill them in until a couple of years ago.   Before, the only maintenance my brows received was regular tweezing.  Nowadays  my eyebrow routine is a bit more elaborate but I assure you... it's worth it!   My eyebrow essentials are; a good pair of tweezers , eyebrow scissors , eyebrow razor , eyebrow comb/brush , eyebrow pencil and eyebrow gel . These are my current favourites : If you would like to know more about my eyebrow routine or how I use these products, leave a comment and let me know!  What are your eyebrow essentials? Outfit inspiration - The skort

Image
Hello everyone! After the DIY posts , the NOTD posts , the Tag posts , the Monthly favourites and the Products I regret buying , today I'm starting a new blog series, this time it's fashion related.   This is my first Outfit inspiration post!    I hope you like it. As I'm sure you've noticed the skort trend is very popular this season.  A   skort is essentially a pair of shorts with a fabric section covering the front, resembling a skirt.  Personally, I'm loving this trend so I've put together two outfit ideas, both featuring the skort.  I hope you find this helpful.  Tell me in the comment section below which outfit is your favourite; the multi-coloured or the black & white. Have an awesome weekend!

My mascara secret

Image
Hello everyone! Don't you hate it when you purchase a new mascara but you don't really like the wand it comes with?  Or when you have to throw away your old mascara tube along with your favourite wand?  I do! Personally, I LOVE L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara .  The thin, flexible plastic wand, coats and separates each lash and makes my eyelashes  look fuller and longer!  It give me the  "false lashes" look without wearing falsies. However, I still like to try out new mascaras.  I personally love volumising mascaras, but I don't like the ginormous wands they usually come with.  They make it almost impossible to apply mascara without ruining the rest of your eye make-up! So here's my "mascara secret"... I throw away my old mascara tubes but save the mascara wands.  I just clean the wands and reuse them!   If there’s a particular mascara wand that works very well for your, why not use that with   other  mascara formulas?

DIY: Removing a gel manicure (2 methods)

Image
Hello everyone! In today's post I will tell you everything you need to know about removing a gel manicure at home ! One downside to gel manicures is the removal.  You can’t just use a regular nail polish remover.  It’s also very tempting to pick and peel off the polish once the nail starts to grow out or the gel begins to lift.  DON'T DO IT!  This will essentially damage and weaken your natural nails.  Salons do offer to remove the polish for you but, this would cost you time and money. Fortunately you can remove the gel at home yourself, the same way your nail technician would!   You will need: For the soak-off method - nail file / emery board nail buffer pure acetone 10 cotton balls 10 small pieces of foil an orange stick For the file-off method - 2 nail file / emery board (a course one and a finer one) nail buffer The soak-off method: NOTE: Choose a well lit and ventilated area!   Soak 5 cotton balls in acetone and lay them on

Products I regret buying #1

Image
Hello everyone! I usually research products I'm going to buy online before I make a purchase, but sometimes I still manage to buy some products that just don't work for me.  So I thought I'd start a blog series on products that I don't like and regret buying ;  kind of my anti-favourites ! Nivea BB Cream in Light The main reason why I do not like this product is that it's to dark and orangey.  I am fair skinned, and when I tried this out for the first time, it looked like I had a tan!  The second time I used it, I mixed a tiny amount with my moisturise, but it still looked fake.    I also didn't like the smell.  This BB cream has that signature "Nivea scent" which is fine for body products but, I do not use any scented products on my face.  And SPF10 is way too low ! Garnier Multi Lights Kit 4 I wanted to add some balayage highlights to give more dimension to my dark hair.  So I headed to my local supermarket and looked for a hi

Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Revamped gel manicure

Image
Hello everyone! Remember the glitter gel manicure I showed you in my previous NOTD post?  Well it's been two weeks and as you can see in the photos below, now it doesn't look as good! I don't want to remove it yet (I'm worried the process will damage my nails), so I decided to revamp it! On my glitter nails, I used a Shimmery Burgundy nail polish to paint a v-shape over the gap between my cuticles and the gel.  I also applied two coats of  the same polish over the teal colour.  I sealed this manicure with one coat of top coat, as usual. I really like the shimmery burgundy and gold colour combination! With this revamped mani I hope I can put off removing the gel for at least a week, allowing my nail to grow a little longer. Do you like my revamped gel mani?  Tell me in the comments below!

Tag post: My hair

Image
Hello everyone! Today I want to talk about my hair, so here's  my hair tag !  Keep reading to learn more about my hair story . When was the first time you got your hair cut?  My mum always says that she cut my hair when I was only 2 days old!  Apparently I was born with long hair. :) When was the first time you got your hair coloured or highlighted. When I was 15. What is the longest and the shortest you hair has ever been? When I was 9 I had knee length hair.  Yes, I said KNEE... I was a real life Rapunzel.  A nd when I was 12 I got a pixie cut (talk about extremes)!  Throughout the years my hair has been all the lengths in between.  However, as an adult I never let my longest layer grow past my waist.     How often do you trim/cut your hair? I'm kind of obsessed with cutting my hair.  I cut my hair myself.  I usually cut 2 inches every 8 week.  There were times when I trimmed my hair more than once a month (*scissor happy*).  My hair grows really qui

April favourites

Image
Hello everyone! For me last month was all about prepping my skin and my hair for "the big event".  My brother got married on Friday 25th and I was his witness.  :) Without further ado, here are my April beauty favourites: Holland   &   Barrett Aloe Vera  Gel Bio Active Skin Treatment + Vitamin E Capsules (100iu) I usually mix the content of a capsule of vitamin E with a blob of Aloe vera and use instead of my night cream a couple of times a week.  During the month of April, I applied this mixture more often than that.  Both ingredients help to heal and regenerate the skin.  Whenever I use Aloe vera and vitamin E at night, I wake up to glowing, clear, even skin.  I LOVE it!  Both Aloe vera and vitamin E can be used for active acne, acne scars, pigmentation, anti-ageing and dry skin  among  other skin conditions. Biafine  Topical Emulsion I use this as a spot treatment on any blemishes I get.  This product also reduces the appearance of

Tag post: Beauty & Brains

Hello everyone! Today I decided to do another tag post.  I answered these questions so you can get to know me a little bit better.  The Beauty & Brains Tag was created by   WildYoungThing ( Youtube username) back in 2012.   Lets get started... Favourite book I don't have a favourite book.  Whenever I want to read a new book I visit Goodreads and pick one (or three).  I normally read more than one book at a time.  I am currently reading the Delirium series by   Lauren Oliver . Favourite quotation/s I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not. - Kurt Cobain Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing . - Oscar Wilde English or Maths? English Science or Art? Art Name five albums or musical artists that changed your life. I LOVE music and couldn't live without it but I wouldn't say any artist or album "changed my life".
