The best earrings for your face shape

September 29, 2021 2 Comments

Hello everyone!

Knowing your face shape can be helpful when choosing your hairstyle, makeup, eyebrow shape, glasses and even earring style. A long time ago, I shared a quiz to help you determine which face shape you have. In previous posts, I talked about the best eyebrows for your face shape and the best sunglasses for your face shape. Today, I want to share some tips on how to choose the best earring that will flatter and define your features.

It is important to choose earrings that complement your natural beauty rather than choosing ones that are 'in style'. A simple trick is to pick the earrings that are opposite to your face shape. Keep reading to see what I mean by this.

Round face

Drop earrings and long dangles look stunning on you, as long earrings will help to elongate your face. Earrings with a sleek and long build are your best choice.

Square face

Round earrings, such are hoops, are your best choice. Earrings with rounded edges are a great choice because they bring attention to your earrings and help soften your face’s natural angles.

Heart-shaped face

To balance your natural face shape, try earrings that are wider at the bottom than at the top. Earrings with soft curves such as teardrop styles balance out the face and draw attention to the eyes, cheekbones and jawline.

Diamond face

Earrings that balance your natural features are ones that are more wide than long. A combination of curves and straight lines are also flattering, as are earrings with delicate drops.

Narrow face

For you, chunky earrings work well. Short dangles are also flattering to narrow faces. Dangling earrings with elongated curves will highlight the cheekbones and soften your appearance.

Oval face

People with an oval face shape are considered the luckiest. Oval faces have incredible versatility in what they can wear, so have fun experimenting; you can wear any style you like!

Different types of fashion styles

February 22, 2021 0 Comments

Hello everyone!

Lately, I've been reevaluating my blog and I decided to focus less on DIY beauty and more on skincare products, beauty techniques and fashion.  I realised that I haven't published a fashion related post in a while.

Clothes are more than just pieces of fabric that we wear on our bodies.  Fashion is a means of self-expression which allows us to present ourselves to the world and show others who we are before we even utter a word.

different types of clothes

There are A LOT of different types of fashion styles, including; Artsy, Bohemian, Feminine, Girl Next Door, Goth, Grunge, Punk, Sporty, Streetwear, Tomboy, Trendy and Vintage.  Finding a style that is suited to our individual tastes can help us feel more confident, more comfortable, and more like ourselves.  A punk outfit or a gothic-dress can be unique fashion statements that can show your attitude and personality.

When developing a personal fashion style, you don’t have to stick to a single style.  You can switch up your look however you like, or mix and match elements from different styles to create your look.

What is your fashion style?  Let me know in the comments section below.

Femme Luxe | Tie-dye and loungewear outfit inspiration

July 24, 2020 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Today’s post is another summer outfit aspiration post; a fashion haul from one of my favourite online stores: Femme Luxe.  I love shopping at Femme Luxe because they have the latest trends at the best prices and the clothing quality is very good; what you see in the pictures on the website is what you get!

And now without further ado, let me show you the items I got…

The first item I got is a pair of grey joggers.  You can never have too many joggers and comfy pants in your wardrobe, am I right?  These joggers or sweatpants feature a cuffed leg with pocket detail and a slim fit.  They are very comfy and I love the slim fit!

As I mentioned in my previous outfit inspiration post, you can find plenty of tie-dye outfits on the Femme Luxe website, so I had to get a couple of items more!  I love my pink oversized t-shirt so much that I got another one in a different colour.   I’m obsessed with Femme Luxe t-shirts; I wear them all the time.

The second item in this haul is a t-shirt featuring an oversized fit with a crew neck and a luxe tie-dye print; I really like the lilac colour!  As you can see from the photos, I paired it with the grey joggers I just told you about.  If I need to go out, I just put on a pair of white trainers to complete the look and I’m ready to go.

Next is the second t-shirt I got and the third item in this haul.  This t-shirt is just fabulous; it features a colourful tie-dye print in a sleeveless fit and padded shoulder detailing.  Yep, padded shoulders - how cool is that?!  I ordered the most vibrant colour available but if you want a more subtle tie-dye look, there are two other, equally gorgeous, colours you can choose from!  In these photos, I wore this top with the same grey joggers mentioned above, but this t-shirt looks super cute with a pair of jean shorts!

This two-piece has to be my favourite item from this haul!  As you might have noticed from my previous fashion hauls, I love loungewear sets so much; I could just wear loungewear sets 24/7!  They are very versatile; comfortable enough to wear them all day if you’re staying in and they can be stylish enough for a night out.  Femme Luxe loungewear sets are the best; there are a large number of sets to choose from all of them are very reasonably priced!  The set featured in this post is a rib two-piece loungewear set featuring a high neck short-sleeved t-shirt with matching leggings, it’s cute, comfy and it makes a statement.   I chose mine in the colour rust and I love it!  You can pair this matching set with high heels or with trainers, either way, it is stunning!

That’s all for today’s fashion haul and outfit inspiration post!  I hope you enjoyed the post and feel free to leave a comment and tell me which item is your
favourite!  There are also some incredible deals and discounts going on right now, so go browse Femme Luxe and enjoy your shopping!

Have a great day, until next time...

Outfit inspiration (Halloween edition) - Where's Wally? (Waldo)

October 11, 2015 1 Comments
Hello everyone!

Halloween is quickly approaching so today I want to share with you an easy, last-minute costume idea

Want to dress up as Wally from Where's Wally? (aka Waldo) this Halloween? - Easy!

You can probably make this costume from clothes you already have!  Wally's distinctive outfit includes a red and white striped shirt, beanie, black glasses and jeans.

The striped shirt and jeans might look like a normal, everyday outfit, but once you add the glasses and a red and white pom-pom beanie, you won't be mistaken for anyone but Wally/Waldo.  And don't forget the brown shoes and messenger bag to complete the costume.  You can also add a walking cane if you can find one.

What are you going to be for Halloween?

Outfit inspiration (Halloween edition) - The Little Mermaid

October 16, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

Today's post is another Halloween "outfit inspiration".  Want to dress up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid this Halloween? - Easy!

Just pick up a green maxi skirt and pair it with a cute purple bandeau or a purple tank top, if you prefer.  Include some cute starfish or seashell accessories.  When it comes to make-up; a coral lipstick and sparkly nail polish will complement the outfit.  Oh, and don't forget to put on false lashes for that cartoonish effect!  You can also add a red wig if you feel your hair isn't mermaid-like enough.

Outfit inspiration (Halloween edition) - Wednesday Addams

October 15, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!

I'm a rabid fan of everything horror, supernatural and paranormal so understandably I love Halloween.  While every little girl wanted to be a princess, I wanted to be a witch!

The Addams Family (1964-1966) was one of my favourite TV shows growing up.  In case you're wondering, I was born in 1985; as a child, I watched re-runs on Italian television.  However, I'm not a fan of the movies.

The Addams Family

Wednesday was one of my favourite characters on the show, she was a pale, dark-haired, grim-looking little girl who was fascinated with death and the macabre.

Today's "outfit inspiration" is a Wednesday Addams Halloween costume.  This is a classic and very simple costume.

If you want to dress up as Wednesday, make sure to find a black dress with a white collar.  I like the flat boots because little Wednesday wore flat boots in the TV series.  Pigtail braids and black tights complete the outfit!  You can also wear black nail polish if you want to.

Are you dressing up this Halloween?  And, are you a fan of The Addams Family too?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Outfit inspiration - Spirit Day 2014

October 14, 2014 0 Comments
Hello everyone!
I've put together two purple outfit ideas for Spirit Day; a casual and a formal outfit.

Casual outfit recommendation:

On this day people wear the colour purple to show support for LGBT youth who are victims of bullying Purple symbolises 'spirit' on the rainbow flag.

Formal outfit recommendation:

Getting involved is easy!  Turn your social media pics purple here, and wear purple on October 16th and help create a world in which LGBT youth are accepted for who they are.

Which outfit do you prefer?  Are you going to wear purple on Thursday?  Answer in the comment section below!
