Three (3) practical alternatives to makeup

Hello everyone!

Believe it or not, not everyone loves to wear makeup, and that's perfectly fine. In fact, according to a recent survey, this beauty trend is starting to lose its luster, with only 39% of women admitting that they wear makeup daily. Plus, applying it every day can have disastrous effects on your facial skin, causing more wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. So, it’s great to take a break from makeup sometimes and remember that true beauty comes from within. Instead of using makeup daily, consider these three alternatives to keeping your skin radiant.

1. Look into essential oils

Essential oils have worked wonders on different skin types for centuries before makeup appeared, and they're still very effective. Olive oil, coconut, retinol, argan, squalane, sunflower seed, shea butter, almond, rosehip, and jojoba oil are some of the best oils you can use to nourish and vitalize your skin. These oils are rich in antioxidants and essential vitamins. Moreover, you can apply them directly to your skin to moisturise, repair, and protect it naturally. They will also leave your skin feeling healthy and radiant without needing makeup. Experts advise massaging the oils into your skin for a more significant effect. The process will also exercise your facial muscles to give you a youthful and more toned appearance. Doing this is particularly important if you have sagging skin, wrinkles, or fine lines.

2. Have a healthy skincare routine

Proper skincare is the foundation of healthy-looking and radiantly beautiful skin. Take good care of your skin to have a natural glow and a healthy complexion that makeup cannot give. It all starts with creating and sticking to a healthy skincare routine. Moisturising, exfoliating, toning, cleansing, and protecting your skin from the sun are at the core of any healthy skincare routine. That requires assembling the right skincare products and combining them with natural ingredients like aloe vera and coconut oil. It also requires understanding your skin type, sensitivity issues, and allergies. This way, you’ll know what skincare products or ingredients to avoid. Beauty products that cause allergic breakouts on your skin may force you to wear heavy makeup to cover those breakouts. You can also learn an effective routine for lighter skin without depending on makeup daily.

3. Don’t ignore diet, nutrition, and exercise

Achieving perfectly radiant skin is only possible if you focus on a proper diet and nutrition. The best all-natural products and tricks can only do so much, as they need a good foundation to work on. That good foundation is healthy skin, which may be achieved through an appropriate diet and regular exercise. Research has proven that lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables can contribute to a radiant complexion and clear-looking skin. For a greater effect, you can also add foods rich in antioxidants, like leafy greens and berries. Such foods can help fight free radicals and give you more youthful-looking skin. Exercising is the cherry on top. Ensure that you stay active or workout regularly while eating healthily. Remember to also keep your body hydrated by drinking enough water daily. Doing this will help flush toxins from your body.

    1. Serums are great for the skin! Also, women are wearing less makeup than they were a few years ago!
