My home at Christmastime

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it's almost Christmas!  2020 has been an unusual year, to put it mildly, and it has gone by so fast.  I love Christmastime aka "the most wonderful time of the year" so much and I can't understand how it is possible that in ten (10) years of blogging I have never shown you my decorations.  So, this year I decided to remedy that and post a lot of photos in today's blog post.  Are you ready for a sneak peek at my home at Christmastime?

We are a Catholic family and along with the usual Christmas decorations, such as the tree, Santa Claus, snowmen, etc., we also decorate the house with traditional Catholic/Christian decorations.  Our holidays wouldn't be complete if we forget the real reason for the season.  I also understand that this time of the year represents different things to different people.

Let's get started...

First things first; this is our Advent wreath; a Christian tradition that symbolizes the passage of the four weeks of Advent.

Next is our main Christmas tree.  The theme is classic red and gold and the ornaments are a mixture of classic baubles, vintage, sentimental ornaments, and handmade ornaments.  The handmade ornaments are all crafted by my very talented mother.  She is a skilled beading artist and she can create almost anything with her hands.  As you can see in the photos below she also made a lot of felt ornament, which I love!  The lights are twinkling warm white LEDs.  

Anyone who visits our home at Christmastime loves our main tree.  What do you think?  

Speaking of handmade Christmas ornaments, I have to show you these gorgeous felted wreaths, also crafted by my mum!  

Here in Malta, for Catholics, Christmas isn't Christmas without the bambin (baby Jesus/from the Italian word bambinello) and the presepju (nativity scene/from the Italian word presepe).  

This is our bambin; a lifesize statue of baby Jesus in his manger.  

And this is our presepju.  Mum isn't the only crafty person in our family; in fact, I made this presepju myself years ago!

The figurines are called pasturi, derived from the Italian word pastore, which means shepherd.

We also decorate another smaller, Christmas tree in the kitchen/living area.  This one's theme is blue, silver, and pink.  This tree also has some handmade ornament.  This is the tree where we have our pink and blue decorations that represent my niece and nephew.  This is my nephew's first Christmas so this year we added a blue beaded pacifier to this tree!  We also have two felted ornament with the name and date of birth of my five-year-old niece.

I also have a small Christmas tree in my bedroom.  There are many, many more Christmas decorations throughout the house but I cannot possibly include them all in the post.  Here are just a few more...

I haven't included the wreath on our front door because today is a cold and very windy day and I didn't feel like going outside at all! (maybe next year)
