DIY: Deep cleansing hair mask (VEGAN)

Hello everyone! If you live in an area with hard water , chances are your hair is suffering the consequences.   Hard water  is full of minerals such as calcium, lime, and magnesium.   While not dangerous,  hard water  can leave your  hair  dull and brittle, making it more prone to breakage .   It can also discolour lighter hues and strip colour-treated  hair .   Minerals dissolved in hard water create a film on the hair strand, which prevents moisture from penetrating the hair shaft.   This results in dry, dull and tangled hair.   The best way to combat issues related to hard water is to incorporate a deep cleansing mask once a week to eliminate buildup. The key ingredient in this DIY deep cleansing hair mask is Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) !   I often use ACV in my DIY beauty recipes.    The enzymes and nutrients in ACV make it an amazing natural hair conditioner.   Combined with the goodness of agave and olive oil, this apple cider vinegar hair mask recipe is the ultimate deep cl

Hello everyone! This past couple of days I published 3 (three) blog posts.  On Friday, I wrote about what kind of earrings you should wear with your protective face mask in a post titled Accessorising during a pandemic .   Then, on Saturday I wrote about My current haircut and in the early hours of this morning, I published a FOTD (Face Of The Day) post in which I wrote about wearing makeup under face masks in a post titled FOTD: Do you wear makeup under your face masks? Today's post is one of my favourite kind of blog post; a fashion haul !  I love doing this kind of post for a few reasons: first, I love showing you what I get and sharing the links with you so you too can shop my style , if you want to.  Second, I love having an excuse to dress up, and in this case, put on makeup and take some pictures.  Funnily enough, I HATED having my photo taken ever since I can remember.  My childhood photo albums are full of pictures of me pouting or covering my face beca

FOTD: Do you wear makeup under your face masks?

Hello everyone! Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation, I haven't been wearing makeup; in fact, the last time I can remember putting on makeup was months ago!  I was never the type of person to wear makeup every day but since I've been staying home most of the time and I'm not attending any social events, I found myself missing wearing makeup and feeling more put together.  Whenever I need to go out I'm wearing a face mask and sunglasses or a face shield (aka visor) anyway.  Dermatologists advise that we skip wearing makeup under our face masks.   Beneath a mask, makeup is more likely to clog pores and lead to breakouts.  If makeup is necessary, use only products labelled “non-comedogenic” or “oil-free”.  I have acne-prone skin so for me that means  face mask  + makeup = breakouts - No thanks! So yesterday I decided to put on some makeup and take some photos for upcoming blog posts.  If you look closely you can spot this makeup in my previous post an

Hello everyone! Through the years, my hair has been anywhere from pixie short to knee length long (when I was 9/10).  A few years back I did a tag post where I answered questions about my hair; check it out - Tag post: My hair .  My hair usually flows between a mid-length that is a few inches below my collarbone, to something longer roughly at bra strap length.   My hair right now (August 2020) is pretty long;  mid-back length with layers throughout .  I also have soft face-framing layers (grown out bangs).  T he shortest layers start just below my chin when curly.   I prefer a u-shaped cut over a v-shape.  Now I trim my hair every 8 (eight) weeks, I used to trim it every 4 (four) weeks until a few months ago when I wanted to keep it shorter.  I've been cutting and dying my own hair since 2007-2008!    I am not encouraging anyone to cut their own hair.  I'm just telling you what I do and how I get this haircut.  If you do not feel confident   do not

Accessorising during a pandemic

Hello everyone! Now that  face masks  are the essential new accessory whenever we step outside the house, we cannot wear big hoops or dangle earrings anymore.  If you try to pair a face mask with dangle earrings or large hoops you will probably spend way too much time fussing around and untangling them from the mask straps.  To avoid this annoying distraction, here are my picks for the best face mask-friendly earrings. What are the best earrings to wear with a face mask? – STUDS! Before Covid-19 I loved wearing hoops and statement earrings.  Studs seemed so basic!  But now stud earrings are the new must-have.  It’s the only way to wear a mask and not have your earrings become entangled with the straps. If you are in the market for some new jewellery, you can click on any of the images below to shop some of my personal favourites!  If you’re looking for some new earrings that won’t break the bank, perhaps one of these pairs will be the key to access
