More ways to use coconut oil in your beauty routine

January 15, 2014 1 Comments
Hello everyone!

I've talked about the wonders of coconut oil before.  Read this previous post: 5 Ways to use coconut oil in your beauty routine.  Coconut oil is the perfect moisturiser because it’s lightweight and easily absorbed.

Below, are 7 more ways to incorporate it into your beauty routine:

As a frizz-tamer

Use a tiny amount of coconut oil to smooth down flyaway hair and add shine to your locks.

As a moisturiser

The fatty acids in coconut oil helps lock moisture into the skin, so smooth some over your elbows and other rough spots to soften and heal.

Instead of cuticle oil

Just dab some coconut oil on your cuticles and nails (you can also use it as a hand cream).  If you do this before bed and put on gloves, you’ll wake up to soft, smooth hands.

In a DIY face scrub

Add some baking soda to your coconut oil for a gentle exfoliating face scrub.  You might feel a bit of residue after rinsing, but the oil will absorb into your skin after a few minutes.

Around your eye area
Coconut oil is great for hydrating the gentle skin around your eyes.  It will leave your eye area extra smooth and decrease lines and wrinkles.

To cleanse your face

I already told you about the oil cleansing method. Read more here: A natural way to cleanse and heal your face.  However, it’s best to test this out; there are some people who claim that coconut oil breaks them out! So be very careful.

To enhancer your eyebrow growth

Use a tiny amount of coconut oil to massage your eyebrows for thickening and darkening.  You can also use this DIY: Eyebrow growth serum.

Have you ever used coconut oil in your beauty routine?  How?  Tell me in the comments below!

DIY: Eyebrow growth serum

January 08, 2014 3 Comments
Hello everyone!

Today I want to share with you a recipe for a DIY serum formulated for encouraging the growth of healthier, fuller-looking brows.

You will need:
  • rosemary essential oil
  • castor oil
  • empty clear mascara tube/small jar

Rosemary is a well-known hair growth stimulant that is also used on the scalp to promote hair growth.  It can be used anywhere on the body including the eyebrows to make them grow faster.  It is important to dilute it with a base oil (like castor oil) before applying to the skin.

Castor oil helps the hair grow thicker and longer, and can keep it from breaking.  It can also help you grow new eyebrow hair in bare areas that might have been over-plucked.

  1. Pour 1 tablespoon castor oil and 8 to 10 drops of rosemary essential oil in an empty clear mascara tube (or a small jar) and shake to mix the oils.
  2. Wash your face and make sure your eyebrows and the surrounding area is free of any make-up.  Pat your face and eyebrows dry.
  3. Apply the mixture to each eyebrow.  Massage the oils into the eyebrow area for 30 to 60 seconds.
  4. Leave the oils on your eyebrows overnight to allow them to be absorbed into your skin and into the hair follicles.
  5. In the morning, wash the oil off.
With regular use, you will achieve fuller, longer, and more youthful-looking brows with less breakage.
